20th Ljubljana International Film Festival
15-17 November 2009
Ljubljana, Slovenia

MEDIA, EU's Support Programme, has been successfully supporting the European audiovisual industry during last 17 years.

For Film Professionals:

2nd Neighbouring Coproduction Meeting within 20th LIFFe

One of the MEDIA supported actions, the Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe), is celebrating its 20th edition in November 2009. This makes the Festival a perfect occasion to host the second coproduction meeting of five neighbouring countries – Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Italy, after its successful first edition in May 2008.

Producers from the five countries, decision makers, experts and interested public will gather on a Neighbouring Coproduction Meeting (NCM) that will take place from November 15 to November 17, 2009 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Organised by MEDIA Desk Slovenia, MEDIA Antenna Torino, MEDIA Desk Italy, MEDIA Desk Hungary, MEDIA Desk Croatia and MEDIA Desk Denmark, in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Slovenia and the Cultural and Congress Centre Cankarjev dom - LIFFe, the event will serve as a platform for new coproduction partnerships as well as for gaining knowledge on new technologies.

Traditional Filmmaking Meets New Technologies

As traditional filmmaking is facing digitalisation process at all stages of the production and distribution chain, the need to respond vigorously to this challenge is obvious. Therefore, an NCM Training Day on New Technologies titled "Traditional Filmmaking Meets New Technologies" (November 16), with several international experts, will be dedicated to market developments in the field.

One-to-one Meetings

While the NCM Training Day will be an important contribution to the event, especially in the context of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009, its main focus remains on one-to-one meetings concerning prospective regional projects (November 17).
Working language of the Neighbouring Coproduction Meeting will be English.
